Oray is the main character in Shape Shifter. Her name is the actual name of my Great Great Grandmother.
Today’s Comanche word is a container used for storing water.
The Comanche word for today is “Little People” and is used many times throughout my story.
The Comanche Word for today is “Council Meeting” which is another word used in my story.
I’ve been working on the final edits of Shape Shifter and went to Oklahoma last week to meet with the Chairman (aka Chief) and the Elder of my tribe helping with the translations to obtain their approval and blessings on my project. During my short visit, Chairman Coffey took me to SIA (pronounced see-a) meaning ‘feather’ in Comanche. Sia is a tribal Eagle Sanctuary ran by Bill and Troy who are the scientist and caretakers of the facility – these two men have spirits who literally soar with the eagles! For more information on Sia go to www.comancheeagle.org Ura!
The Comanche word for today is “White Person” as used in my story.
